Surveillance of non-fatal injuries in the United States, and in many comparable countries, relies heavily on electronic hospital records, particularly Emergency Department (ED) records. Injury surveillance requires accurate coding of external cause of injury codes (E-codes). The purpose of this project is to monitor and improve the quality of E-coding in North Carolina.
