Injury-Free NC, a collaboration between the North Carolina Division of Public Health’s Injury and Violence Prevention Branch and the University of North Carolina’s Injury Prevention Research Center, is excited to launch the application for the 2024 Injury-Free NC Academy on Harm Reduction as Transformative Practice. The purpose of this Academy is to work with community-based organizations, local health departments, coalitions, and individuals who are planning or have taken steps to establish an overdose prevention or harm reduction program or want to learn more about harm reduction principles and how to incorporate them into overdose prevention work.

The application deadline is 5pm on January 26, 2024.

This Academy will take place in two parts, two days that will take place virtually and two that will take place in-person. The sessions are scheduled as followed:

May Academy dates:

Virtual Session: May 7 & 8, 2024
In-Person Session: May 16 & 17, 2024
Location: Hickory, NC

July Academy dates:

Virtual Session: July 9 & 10, 2024
In-Person Session: July 18 & 19, 2024
Location: Greenville, NC

The in-person component is subject to change based on public health guidance. Health and safety guidelines will be followed for all in-person gatherings. Organizers will notify Academy participants if any changes are made.
