UNC is an institution that is committed to providing an inclusive campus community that values and respects all members of our academic community and the many communities outside our institution. UNC IPRC is proud to be part of the state of North Carolina, and part of a university that has a diverse and inclusive environment that empowers the development of engaged and culturally competent global citizens. Diversity contributes to our strength, excellence and individual and institutional success.

Diversity, equity, inclusiveness and civility are core values of UNC IPRC. We strive to create a work environment that is welcoming, values all individuals, and supports their development. We value diversity and inclusiveness among our staff and those we work with. These include but are not limited to:

  • culture, racial/ethnic background, country of origin
  • gender identity and gender expression
  • age
  • socioeconomic status
  • physical ability and appearance
  • religious or spiritual beliefs
  • political views and perspectives
  • lived experience of involvement with the criminal justice system
  • lived experience of involvement with legal or illegal drugs
  • survival of abuse, neglect, or sexual or physical violence
In recognition of the importance of supporting the North Carolina economy, the Injury Prevention Research Center prefers to utilize locally-owned businesses and enterprises. This includes use of North Carolina-based service providers, vendors, and caterers.
Climate change impacts the risk of injury and violence through disruption to coastal communities, severe weather events, and heat-related injuries and conditions. In recognition of the importance of mitigating the effects of climate change, the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center seeks to maximize the use of recyclable and reusable containers and packaging at all events, and in the workplace.
