Public Health Communication Specialist

Carol Shirley joined the IPRC team in November 2022. She manages public health communication, media relations, public relations, marketing communication, and organizational communication for the center. She also manages some of the center’s project based public health communications. Ms. Shirley serves as the co-chair of the communications committee for the Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research, and is currently pursuing her Dr.P.H. degree in Leadership, Advocacy, and Equity from Tulane University with a focus in health communication. She has over 15 years’ experience in marketing and communication in higher education and has won Telly and Hermes creative awards for her previous work at UNC Chapel Hill.
